What's the Buzz All About?

Thanks for visiting Honeybee Homemaker!

My name is Melissa, which means “Honeybee” in Greek. I’m a stay-at-home mom (thus the title Honeybee Homemaker).

I’ve always loved writing, so I originally started this blog in 2012 to chronicle my life as a SAHM and share things I had been learning and ways my heart was growing. Then, in 2014, I decided to try out the new 21-Day-Fix weight loss program and blog my way through it. I also began sharing recipes I developed while doing 21-Day-Fix and the blog’s popularity soared. With this, the focus of my blog then shifted to helping inspire and equip people on their own journey to accomplish their personal goals.

I hope wherever you are on your journey today, you will fill your heart with encouragement through my 21-Day Fix journal entries (See Bee-Coming Healthy Blog) and fill your belly with nutritious, fix-approved recipes (See Sweet As Nectar Recipes).

Overcoming them is what makes life meaningful”

I am excited to start it :) I know these recipes will help me succeed and not get bored. I love your blog and I can relate to you on everything. You are not wasting your time. Everyone has different views and I say you do what you feel led to do! Jesus gives us all different gifts and different paths to travel. I never in my life thought I would be a homeschooling mom but I love it and wouldn't change it for the world. 6. Hey, Melissa! I found you through one of your recipes, and I read your "homemaker" section. So precious. I just want to encourage you, that you are doing a good thing. I have heard all the same things and I know exactly what you mean. I left my career (except for some part-time work) to be a full-time wife, mom, and homemaker and haven't regretted it for one second. And now I've started blogging to encourage other moms, just like you! Be encouraged! :)

  7. Hey, Melissa! I found you through one of your recipes. I just read your "homemaker" explanation. So precious. I just want to encourage you that you are doing a good thing. I left a career (except for some part-time work) sixteen years ago to be a full-time wife, homemaker, and (homeschooling) mom. I haven't regretted it for one single second. And now I'm blogging to encourage other moms just like you! :)))

  14. Good morning Melissa! I pray all is well with you and your family! I was wondering if you are still a beachbody coach. If so, I was wondering if you and I can discuss you becoming my coach. I start my journey on Monday and I must admit I'm feeling overwhelmed already! I look forward to your response

  16. Hi Melissa, I just "found" you on Pinterest while looking for 21 Day Fix meal plans. I am going to start this plan. I need to lose weight and believe that portion control is the key. I am excited about your blog, 21 Day Fix recipes, and the fact that you bring your faith in Jesus Christ to the forefront is refreshing. Thank you.

  17. Hello! I love your blog! Is there any way to follow you on Facebook? How did you alter your 21 day fix routine while pregnant? Thanks!

    1. Hey! Thanks so much! I have a facebook page called Mel Heyward- Healthy Living, although I don't update it nearly as much as I do the blog ;)... When you're pregnant, you need about 300 extra calories per day, so I would add 300 to whatever that calorie range formula number is for you and then follow the portions in that category. Remember the goal is to be healthy rather than lose weight (and sometimes you have to eat ice cream just because lol)... Also use the modifiers as needed with the workouts- I avoided any ab and twisting exercises just to be extra careful :)

  18. I just found your blog from a pinterest post. My children are now grown, but I was a homemaker while they were in the house. I think of it more as a home manager as you have to be organized for the position. I loved being home, but the image that is out there is I was home watching TV all day eating bon-bons on the couch! It was not a sacrifice to stay at home it was a blessing. I did not have children to let someone else's values imprinted on them. The time with them goes by so fast and it is a precious time you cannot get back. Time well spent! I was an LPN before having children, and recently went back to college for my RN. God didn't miss a beat! Great Job and keep up the good work.
